Beyond the Workplace: How TransUnion Supported Tara Through Her Adoption Journey

Posted on December 19, 2023

Tara, a Product Management Advisor for TransUnion, always wanted children. She and her husband both grew up with a large, extended family and wanted to start one of their own. After several years of trying, the couple decided to grow their family through adoption.

The couple adopted their first son, Maximiliano, in 2020, and their world changed forever. The family had an instant connection, and they knew they were meant to be together. Tara and her husband maintained a semi-open relationship with Maximiliano’s biological mother. When she became pregnant a second time, the couple opened their hearts and home again, adopting Maximiliano’s sibling.

Tara felt confident in her decision to adopt for the second time because she knew her employer offered adoption benefits designed to assist her through the process.

“TransUnion supported our family both financially and emotionally during this time, and I am grateful that I work for an organization that understands the importance of family,” said Tara.

TransUnion’s robust adoption benefits include parental leave and financial reimbursement for adoption fees. The organization’s adoption benefits program earned them a spot on the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list.

Today, Tara’s family is complete, and she is grateful her children can grow and share their life together.

Congratulations, TransUnion, for being recognized as a 2023 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace! Learn more about adoption benefits and find valuable resources by downloading the Foundation’s free Adoption-Friendly Workplace toolkit.
